How do I know if my house is haunted?
It is wise to consider logical reasons for "things that go bump in the night." Foundations settle in both new and old houses. Pipes, furnaces, and everyday appliances can contribute to a house making ghostly creepy sounds. Reflections of lamps, cars, and other light sources can be mistaken for apparitions. First try to "debunk" any strange happenings by investigating and eliminating all the possibilities. Trust your instincts. If you experience drops in room temperature and it has nothing to do with reasonable explanations, remember that ghosts use energy from electrical means such as batteries, televisions, radios, etc. even from us. It is believed that ghosts suck the energy in a room to try and manifest. If you still have strange and unexplained activity, you can conduct your own investigation or you can contact a paranormal investigation team near your area that can confirm if your house is haunted.
Am I opening a door to ghosts to enter my home if I do an investigation?
If you are interested in the paranormal, read true short Ghost Stories and paranormal accounts from GHOSTWRITERS before starting your own investigating. If you do decide to do a paranormal investigation, you first need to protect yourself. Don't ever investigate alone. Ghosts can manifest themselves to you or members of your family if you try to communicate with them. They can also get "attached" to you. It isn't uncommon to come home with an entity or ghost after doing a paranormal investigation. A ghost in your house can be a family member who has passed on and is watching over you and protecting your family. But if you have encountered malevolent spirits, getting rid of them is not easy. If you have moved into a house that has paranormal activity, it is possible that these spirits see you as an intruder in "their" house. Contact a paranormal investigation team or medium who can identify and communicate with spirits to try and get them to move on to "the other side."
Why do we have ghosts?
Remember ghosts are people who once were alive. Many had unresolved issues, or unfinished business at the time of their deaths. Some are still trying to resolve things they couldn't do in life. It has been argued that untimely deaths are the reason ghosts become trapped or attached to their home or place of demise as sometimes portrayed in scary horror stories. Ghostlycreepy sounds can sometimes come from "residual energy." This is an imprint of an emotion or trauma that plays like a recording in a certain spot. In other cases, we have "intelligent hauntings," ghosts who communicate with the living through tapping sounds or EVP's to questions posed to them.
What is an EVP?
EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomenon. Electronic equipment that records audio can sometimes capture ghostly conversations or paranormal sounds that are not heard with the naked ear. If a place is haunted, you can sometimes capture "voices" from the other side with a simple tape recorder or other electronic audio devices.
Why do people frown upon summoning spirits?
If you are summoning spirits through séance or certain board games, you are opening up a "portal" to the other side. There is no guarantee that you will summon a loved one or a friendly ghost. Opening up a portal enables all kinds of spirits to come through. Some of these dark spirits can attach themselves or will deceive you into thinking they are family members who have passed on. This can be dangerous because they can follow you home as "attachments." These dark spirits are difficult to get rid of once you have summoned them or allowed them to come through to communicate with you.
What is an entity?
When doing paranormal investigations, one can sometimes encounter "an entity." Some people are convinced that entities are dark and evil in nature. Entities can sometimes spiritually attack by scratching or possessing a person. Entities are spirits and sometimes demonic in nature and like to hide in dark spaces such as basements, cellars and attics. But they can be found in houses, hotels and places where an act of evil has taken place.
