Does paranormal activity increase during Halloween? Well, the Celtic people celebrated "All Hallow's Eve" ( all saints day ) which we now know as Halloween as a time when all who passed during the year, crossed into the other world.  More than any other day, it was believed and is still believed in many parts of the world to be the most active and conducive time for the living and the dead to intermingle.   So, when you don your creepy costume or party with your friends, be aware that it isn't just your imagination, there is definitely something strange in the air. 

The "Day of the Dead", November 2nd is celebrated with reverence in Mexico, Brazil, and throughout Europe.  Banks are closed in Mexico and other parts of the world during November 2nd, (all souls day) to give families time to celebrate and honor their dead. They bring flowers cempazuchitl  (Mexican Marigold) and dress up the graves. It is not uncommon to leave pan de muerto ( sweet bread for the dead) It is in reverence and respect to the dead  that  many build alters and offer candy, fruit, and various personal items to their once living family member.  Makeshift alters have become works of art and have become quite elaborate. A photograph of the deceased, along with toys and food are left on top of the alter as an invitation in hopes that the dead will visit once again.  Ghostly visitors are welcomed and are believed to leave on November 2nd, the"Day of the Dead."   I have spoken to friends who have built their alters in their homes and swear that their loved ones came to visit. Is it wishful thinking?  Well,there are several accounts of paranormal activity. Paperbacks, comic books, and magazines (favorites of the deceased) left on the alters have flipped pages and many swear that food and sweet bread has either been removed or eaten. 

While it is widely believed that the deceased come to visit us from time to time.  It is important to remember it doesn't just happen on Halloween or the "Day of the Dead."  Orbs, said to be the energy of the dead, have been captured many times in photographs and videos.  Anomalies and spirits have also made their ghostly appearances sometimes on the anniversary of their passing.  But it is hard to plan for a ghostly visit. Ghosts have been known to make their appearance or presence felt unexpectedly and at odd times.  A cousin who recently got married, swears up and down that as she came into the chapel, she was aware of deceased family members in the congregation.  She admits to seeing her grandmother and grandfather who passed years ago, and  even saw a childhood best friend who died at an early age.  She told me later that while she came down the aisle at her wedding, she saw her deceased relatives smiling  along with the living celebrating her big day!

Have you seen a ghost on the road?  Would you know it if you had? Some say they have seen apparitions off highways and on forsaken roads.   I remember a story my father told me a long time ago.  He had to drive to Dallas and it was very late at night.  He was tired and had seen a sign for a coffeeshop. He recalled getting off the highway somewhere near Waco.  He took a few side streets in search of the coffee shop.  He looked forward to stretching his legs and getting a bite to eat.   He drove for a long time and suddenly  found himself in a dark wooded area.  There weren't many lights or houses in the area. Up ahead maybe a few hundred feet was a man wearing a dark cloak.  He was walking on the side of the road. The man had a hoody that covered his face.  Since it had rained earlier, my dad thought nothing of it and approached to ask him for directions.   As he got closer, the man seemed to fade or disappear.  My dad thought his eyes were playing tricks on him and tried looking for the man.  He was sure he had seen him.  It was late and he was exhausted.    Suddenly he realized he couldn't find his way out of the  area.  He found himself circling the same streets over and over again.  He wanted desperately to find his way out.  Finally, he saw a street light and got closer.   Without warning  the cloaked man appeared out of nowhere and was inches from the car. My dad screeched on the brakes.  Had he hit him?   He got out of the car, to make sure the stranger was O.K.  But to his surprise, there was no one there.  The cloaked man had disappeared.         Is there such a thing as another dimension?  Are there portals that people can enter and find themselves in another time?  Yes.  Some people have had strange experiences by traveling into  another dimension and not know how they got there.  A few people have personally revealed to me that they didn't even realize they had crossed a dimension.  When they did, they were bewildered and felt lost between time. 

A childhood friend of mine, who grew up in Mexico city told me a very compelling story.   As a young boy Alberto use to play in his grandparents' extensive backyard.   His grandfather was very wealthy and lived in an opulent mansion with a huge terrace and lush gardens.  Alberto was ten years old at the time playing outside, when the late afternoon turned to dusk.  He recounts:

"I looked up to see the bright stars in the early night sky.  I'm not sure what happened next.  But I remember gazing  for a few minutes and then hearing faint music from an orchestra.  The music got louder and  I looked towards the terrace.  Inside the ballroom just beyond the terrace were several people at a party.  I must have been standing about 30 yards away in the garden.  But I could clearly see many couples dancing in the ballroom.  The women wore elegant gowns and the men were very well dressed in formal attire.  I could hear the laughter and the music from the party.  A couple strolled out into the terrace.  They didn't see me. 

At first I didn't recognize anyone.  Then, I spotted my grandfather.  When I saw him I couldn't believe my eyes.  He looked so much younger.  I saw my grandmother standing with him.  She looked  beautiful and much younger than I remembered.  Then, my Uncle Horatio sauntered into the ballroom, a young man of about twenty years old.  As long as I've known him, he's always had grey hair.  It was my uncle alright, but he was a young man sporting dark hair.   No one seem to notice me.  I couldn't understand why they were there. 

Then, in the distance, I heard my mother 's voice calling me.  I turned away for a moment but when I looked back, everyone was gone.  The music had stopped. It was an empty ballroom. Had I seen ghosts? No, because the people I recognized in the room were still very much alive.  Then I realized, somehow I had stepped back in time." 

My friend Alberto never told anyone his experience for fear of ridicule.  But I believe him as I do others who have had puzzling and disturbing experiences of time lapses or entering other dimensions. A location can house energies at different layers and from different moments in time.  It is why we can sometimes see and hear residual energies.....or ghosts. In Alberto's case, he had momentarily walked through a portal and crossed dimensions to the same place but another time.

Can ghosts visit you during the holidays?  Don't laugh!  It is believed that there are such things as ghosts of "Christmas past." - Not the memories of our careless youth that make us cringe when brought back to haunt us. - But rather loved ones, family members who come to check on our family reunions and holiday get togethers.  I recently had a good friend tell me about strange things going on in her house.  Jen has  lived in her house for a few years in a quiet neighborhood with zero paranormal activity.  She and her husband, a great loving couple and of sound mind and body have a  lovely baby daughter. Suddenly, they are reporting things that go"bump" in the night.  Jen's baby daughter's toys are inexplicably turning on in the middle of the night by themselves! When asked when the activity started, Jen said it was around late November and it has escalated in December around Christmas.  "Around 2:30 in the morning one night, my baby's toy turned on playing music.  It's not just the one toy.  Her musical book starts to sing without any of us pusing the buttons!" A family relative who passed away about a year ago during this time, is believed to be the one causing the haunts.  Jen videotaped her baby daughter  infront of the Christmas tree coloring her book and to her surprise captured strange orbs around her.  Christmas, like many family reunions can bring out ghosts.  If they are family members now deceased, there is no reason for alarm.  They are simply protecting and visiting family members.  You can acknowledge them by saying "hello."

       What are "shadow people?"  Many people have had the unfortunate experience of seeing them face to face.  They can be quite disturbing and scary.  "Shadow people" are  dark entities and  negative in nature. They can thrive in homes, hotels, restaurants and almost any place without warning.  As in the ghost story, "Strange Visitor" in     www.ghostlycreepy.com "shadow people" exist.  For those who have had the displeasure of seeing them, it can be quite a frightening experience.  It is not known what exactly these "shadow people" are or how they come to exist.  Some experts believe they were once human who were negative  or guilty of evil acts in their lifetime and have not crossed over.  People have reported "shadow people" in places where a murder took place.  They are reluctant to cross over to the "other side."   It is believed that "shadow people" linger on earth or are grounded. Perhaps they are fearful of punishment.  "Shadow people" are physically dark and lack facial  features.  They have arms and legs and look like human shadows. They like to prey upon people by taking their energy.  When we sleep, we are completely vulnerable.   These negative creatures tend to lurk and  come to suck our energy.  "Shadow people" like to prey especially on children.  Children are often open vessels and unguarded psychically. Is it possible to get rid of  "Shadow people?"  Yes, in many cases you can remove them with "sage" and holy water.  It depends on the situation.
